Dear, Depression is mood disorder can be determined by the specialist and the client himself through some signs and symptoms such as depressed mood, loss of interest and  pleasure, decrease or loss of appetite and eating, increase or decrease sleep, loss of concentration, physical retardation or agitation, loss of energy so on. There is no blood or medical test to determine depression so far. However, there are some trails from a scientist’s to work on this issue, but no evidence base for these trails so far e.g. a research was performed by a team led by Lukas Pezawas of the Medical University of Vienna and the results were published in PLOS ONE you can have a look.  Thanks for asking-Take care
