Hello, do we agree that we suffer with Materialism? We tend to stoop over the Materials available, be it for our comfort or luxury. There is a thin line between comfort and luxury, we generally tend to buy what we dont require.

This is a serious psychological disorder which is going unnoticed. The shopping sites and apps are adding to our woes. The discounts that the sellers provide are actually traps in disguise. Please guide how to cope up with Materialistic shopoholism.

Hope you doing good. You have come up with a very relevant issue. In today's time it's all about materials and their boasting. Everyone is running behind materials and want to boast about it so that htey can enjoy a good status in the society. People don't consider whether the materials they possess makes them happy or not. they just own it because it's trending and everyone else have these materials. It can be anything from clothes to cars to latest technology etc. We are following materials so that we can fit ourselves to the world of fake or the society of fake. There are people who genuinely love materials and they should possess because they makes them happy but not everyone loves materials and still they are investing their hard earned money into them. Following things can be done to stop this:

    1) People should understand that materials are not permanent and trend changes every now and then so there is no point in investing in any transitory/short lived thing.

    2) Invest in those things which geniuely makes you happy by possessing them. It can be any smallest of thing to big things.

    3) Don't compare your life and living status to any other person of the society. Do what you believe in and what you think is right. Have the courage to stand on your points and not doing what everyone else is doing.

    Hope this will help.

Hey there! Hope you are doing well.

I appreciate how you have raised such an important point which is overlooked most of the time.

It is so sad to see how people are turning materailistic and how they are becoming so insensitive to humane feeling and attributes. It is sad to see where the world is going.Furthur, what adds to the misery is how these high-rated companies, just for marketing and selling off their products and to make profits, how they are playing with human psychology without realizing what a horrible impact it is leaing and how harmful it is in long-term.But we must be the change we wish to see in the world. There is no point in cribbing over something we do not intend to change. We must begin the revolution. It is always not about showing how much we own or how much we can afford but also about how much we feel but this sense has disappeared in modern times. People are running in herd towards nothing but this shallow gloss of fancy products. What we can really do is make people realize how shallow it is and not get carried away by their fake marketing.

Hello. You are right in saying that we suffer from materialism. People's earnings are increasing day by day because of which various avenues for shopping both offline as well as online have been developed.

This has led to the emergence of a trend of 'latest fashion' or latest Technology etc. This further leads to social comparison and people tend to buy things which they don't have. Also it might happen that they may end up buying things they would hardly use.

Also it depends upon the looks and sometimes even the quality of the product that we feel allured and end up buying stuff.

I think this materialism can only end when:

    1. We learn to be ourselves and not following what others do.
    2. Such things become methods by which we brag in front of others. People must realise that it is not important to bring others down through their money. But everyone should be in harmony and appreciate each other as they are.
    3. We learn self-control as wasting money on useless things hardly does any good.
