Why do we stick to old practices

Hello everyone!

We all have known what it is like to treat abnormal people in a clinical setting through observation, work experience and the like. However, what troubles me is to see the plight of these special people and how they are treated in the asylums. Why is it that the specialists only apply empirical and scientific tools to the patients and not some activities or play things that gives them genuine happiness, once in a while? Why is it that we always have to follow the general trend, even if that is not helping? What can be done about it?

Hope you doing well. I completely agree to you. Doctors treat people with mental disorders in a very cruel and insensitive manner, which instead of helping them sometimes ruins the condition. It's true that they are following a single method of treatment and that method is not always applicable to each patient. Following things can be done to improve the situation of people with mental conditions:

    1) Doctors have to be more sensitive and empathetic.

    2) Doctors should be learned different techniques or methods other than the curriculum thing.

    3) There should more mental health counsellors and psychologists along with psychiatrists, so that treatment can get a new shape.

4)Doctors should realise that along with medicines. these people require love and care. These two things act as catalyst in their treatment.

    Hope this will help.
