Dear, Bi-polar disorder has its own charecteristics. Because of the high and lows involved, and according to the severity of the symptoms, treatment methods change. General treatment is with the help of psychiatric medicines. Medicines alone are not sufficient. Psychotherapy and life style changes should also help you.

The major issue with BPD is mood changes, and an attachment problem where other people are seen in black and white, they are either all good or all bad. The concept of 'dialectics' given by Marsha Leinahan can be used for cognitive oscillation between such extremes. Dialectics are taught as part of dialectical behaviour therapy when you go for counseling or therapy. I would strongly suggest that you do that, because the mood changes may not help you work on yourself so much as you would like to. Hand-holding by a therapist in the same can go a long way. Further, not disrupting routine, following schedules and predictable patterns, relaxation and behavioural activation, all seem to help with BPD.
