Hi, I am a working woman of 25 and I am single. I cannot address my problem as a sleep disorder, because I feel that I sleep well, but i have weird dreams. Quite often I wake up in the middle of the night with a dream or a nightmare like- "I am being chased by a group of gangsters, thieves or rustic goons; I have managed to hide inside a desolate room, under a chair; I can hear the chasers looking frantically outside for me; I may be having some valuabels which they are trying to take away from me or if they cannot find it, they will rape me. I do not quite understand, what I am more fearful about- losing my precious property or being sexually assaulted;" however, I wake up with a mental imagery that the chasers have found me and I am fighting them.

sometimes, I see- "I am being chased by a ghost or vampire who is determined to find me and pierce the sharr teeth and drink my blood, and I am trying hard to prevent this ultimate fate of mine", and I wake up when I am found by the ghost, and I shout in the dream.

Another category of my dreams are even weirder. I find myself getting close with friends of my own sex however, I am straight as long as my sexuality is concerned. I am serious about my relationship with my would be husband.

But I cannot understand the meaning of my dreams. Sometimes, I am so shocked by them, that I remember traces of the images in the morning as well and try to find the conclusion to my dream story; what happened finally at the end? this question disturbs me, I want to go back to sleep, just to view the conclusion of my dream.

another important thing is if i find myself in stress in the dream, I wake up and feel some heaviness or pressure on my hands, palm or shoulders, which I have heard happens to many during a dream, but I have not been able to find a scientific explanation to it.

What is a dream actually? Why do I dream these weird things? Why do I feel some physical pressure or stress during a violent dream?? Is there any kind of problem in my mind?

Dear user, it is very stressful life to dream this type of dreams frequently. However, according to the psychoanalytic theory for Sigmund Freud this dream means that you have a lot of interpersonal disputes and conflicts and that appears in your dreams at night. Dream analysis, in psychoanalysis, provides the possibility to decipher the mystery of neurotic disorders, specifically hysteria, and secondly, it opens the road towards unconscious. Freud's phrase: "The interpretation of dreams is the royal road to a knowledge of the unconscious. Moreover, Psychoanalytic dream interpretation is the process of explaining the meaning of the way the unconscious thoughts and emotions are processed in the mind during sleep.
Therefore, I strongly recommend you to follow these steps. Try to practice some important activities to decline your stress. Try your best to make some sport and activities to help you sleep fine at night e.g. relaxation techniques and deep breathing exercise. Talk with your surrounding trustworthy individuals.  Don’t be panic about this situation because it will come down by the time and by the suitable interventions from a therapist. In the light of that and in case you don’t feel better, try to consult an online therapist. Take Care.
