I have enough evidence to support that social media is addicting and this addiction is killing us from inside with each passing day. Why is it that we become so prone to social media? What can be the contributory causes? People who have a good social circle also tend to get get trapped in it's fancy. Why do we get hooked on to something so unrealistic so soon?

    Hey, how are you?

I would like to answer your questions seperately.

I think we become prone to social media because of what it offers. The past few decades have been about globalisation and destroying of boundaries as the world becomes one. Social media gives that access and feeling to the common man. It enables us to connect to people, places, things and events across the globe and helps us feel that we are a part of the larger picture.

Contributary causes include peer pressure which stems from friends, many a times work requirement according to the market change and most of all a sense of acceptance and approval one receives through likes, comments etc. A person recieves validation through social media.

The entire attraction of social media is the idea that it's real. It's real people, acknowleding your exitence and appreciating your opinions or you. That's what makes social media so addictive. One cannot put a number to the number of people that may be good enough for a person to feel accepted. Hence, people with srtong social groups also use social media as a similar tool to get more validation and as it is said today keep up with the trends.

    Hope this helps :)

Yup...that was right nowadays youngsters are much addicted to the social media. This is due to the growing techonology and the smart phones.People always use their smart phones in their daily life. They get started with the smart phones like posting something in the social media and ends up with the social  media.Their day-to-day life depends on the smart phone.People should be in self-control to avoid the addictness.People are not aware of the causes and the depression of this addiction.either it can help us to communicate with the people its so dangerous when its too much.Self-control is the only way to avoid this addiction.

    Hope,it helps you   :)

Technology is a curse and a cure. It is truly beneficial to us in some ways while harmful in others. We often misuse this luxury or overuse it without even the realising the side effects.

On an average people spend 23 hours every week on social media. That's a lot of time. Many people are addicted to social media because they enjoy boasting their lifestyle to others on an online platform in order to elevate their status in the society, few people have a compulsive habit of checking their feed every now and then because they don't want to miss out new posts. One benefit of these social media app is that it enables people to reach to people who are at a distance, it helps in self disclosure which people enjoy while communicating. Another reason why we are addicted to social media because it provides us with entertainment while looking out for amusing things. We also get involved into other people's' activities by sharing/retweeting or like their posts in order to nurture our relationship with them and get social validation. These social media apps provide a way of comparing different people on the basis of the a new photos update or job event, etc which either boast a persons' self esteem or hurt their ego.

As poisoning as the world of social media is, it is growing even more and there is no decline. Our brain have been wired accordingly. However one can always control this addiction.
